View in taxonomic table

Although this species is occasionally seen in the north of Corrientes, it is more common in Missiones, especially in the north.

It is a veteran nest parasite of the Red-rumped Cacique and other Cacuques.

This is a large member of the family Icteridae which resembles the Shiny Cowbird but is much larger at 35cm.  It is black all over with long legs and an orange iris.

Female is similar but with duller plumage and a brown iris.
